About the event
Un Grito Gallery is pleased to present “Devout and Domestic”, a series of sculptural and two-dimensional work by Alex Bow. The solo exhibition will open Thursday, October 5th and Friday, October 6th, 2023, from 7-10 pm with a closing reception held on October 19th, 2023.
Alex Bow creates work about otherness, domesticity, and being a lesbian in the south. She utilizes perspectives that sometimes position the audience as a singular viewer, evoking feelings of voyeurism, admiration, or fear. In conservative cultures, the mundane, domestic, and boring can be impossible to obtain for LGBT individuals. Alex is interested in magnifying these moments as small victories in the face of bigotry.
