About the event

FL!GHT is proud to present “Lunatics in the Garden” a collection of James Johnson Works Collected in the 1990s by Marynell Maloney during the artist and collector’s decades-long friendship, and displayed in France for the past thirty years. These pieces have been returned to the US and are gathered here for a first time public exhibition.

James W Johnson was born and raised in Upstate NY and moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1978. He received an MFA from Texas Tech University in 1981 and has continued to live in Lubbock as a studio artist.

Johnson is a prolific studio artist and has spent about 90,000 hours making more than 2,000 works of art in the last 50 years. While being primarily a painter, he has produced a complex body of work in a wide variety of mediums.

Join us for a reception honoring Johnson and this work on First Friday…
