Un Grito Gallery is pleased to present "The 12 Links of Dependent Origination” by Albert Alvarez. This solo exhibition will open Thursday, August 1st and Friday, August 2nd, 2024, from 7-10 pm with a closing reception held on August 15th, 2024.
Artist Statement: ”A series of drawings that illustrate The 12 Links of Dependent Origination, found on the outermost circle on the Buddhist Wheel of Becoming. It is the concept of how someone’s ignorance influences their quality of mind, body, and even the world around them. These drawings also serve as an index for symbolism found in many of my artworks over the years.”
Albert Alvarez (b.1983) is an artist whose works depict the suffering of the human condition, with a message of spiritual salvation through the understanding and reflection by viewing the scenarios. The images are woven visual tapestries using dream logic, or the Buddhist concept of perception, the function of conglomerating dimensional stimulus into understanding. Alvarez lives and works in San Antonio, TX.
