About the event
The Never-Ending Story
Recent paintings by Albert “Long Shot” Alvarez. Now in 3-D! Continuing with longstanding themes in his work on body identity and spiritual enlightenment, Alvarez steps into the round with altars to BDSM and asceticism, the fall of Icarus and other spectacles of the nihilistic human animal devoid of spiritual resurrection.
Albert Alvarez is an artist who lives and works in San Antonio, TX. He graduated in 2006 from RISD and has since made painting his chosen medium to express his views and understanding of the meaning of life. His work is profoundly influenced by Buddhism and its crossover application to modern society, especially specific to his San Antonio American heritage. Aesthetically Alvarez draws upon medieval altars to provide illustrative language to communicate his themes of corporeal suffering and spiritual anguish of the ego identifying with the body politic.
